The Children’s Clubs of Nepal: A Democratic Experiment

Children’s clubs have emerged as an important new kind of institution in Nepal over the past decade. They appear to be both an expression of, and a promise for the advancement of democracy and children’s rights. This report describes the development and current state of functioning of those clubs that have been supported by Save the Children Norway (SCN) and Save the Children US (SCUS). Their progress has been a remarkable natural experiment in the different ways that children can be involved in the management of their own organisations.
